In the early hours of the morning a ferocious fire engulfed Mbuyuni Market, in the centre of Moshi Town. The marketplace, which attracted small traders, including single-mothers and day labourers living below the poverty line, has been raised to the ground.
Hundreds of small vendors and traders have lost their entire stock of fruit and vegetables, leaving them without any means to earn a living.
Three fatalities have been confirmed.
We are launching an emergency appeal to provide market traders with emergency food parcels and cash grants of £50/$70 to restart their businesses.
