My Story

Silver Birch Care Holdings is proud to support Kijana Kwanza, and we are excited to visit them in Tanzania this October-November!

Kijana Kwanza’s mission – to empower young people through education, skills and opportunity – aligns closely with our own values. During our visit, our team will be split into three groups to maximise impact and engagement:

Children’s Home Team

We will bring our experience in caring for young people in the UK to support Kijana Kwanza’s children’s home directly. Our team will help deliver pastoral care, counselling, extra-curricular activities and informal learning sessions. These will focus on essential life skills – from personal hygiene to cooking – so that when young people leave the home, they are better prepared for independent living.

Kilimanjaro Ascent Team

This team will take on the physical and mental challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise vital funds and awareness for Kijana Kwanza’s work. This demanding trek will shine a spotlight on the barriers young people face, while directly supporting life-changing projects.

Community Engagement Team

We’ll support the delivery of educational outreach and vocational training to help young people and the wider community gain the skills they need to shape their own futures. Through debates, workshops and seminars, we’ll work together to create new services and interventions that empower individuals to thrive.

Please support our fundraising efforts so that we can continue supporting Kijana Kwanza – not only through our visit and volunteering, but also by helping to fund the construction of a new children’s home for orphans and street children in Tanzania.
